EduNurse is an early prototype of an intelligent tutoring system for nursing education. It is designed to help students practise short scenario-based answers and receive clear, supportive feedback on how they can improve.
The system focuses on realistic nursing learning situations, such as communication, safety, scope of practice, assessment, older adult care, and professional decision-making. Students can read learning materials, try practice scenarios, and review feedback linked to their answers.
Students respond to nursing scenarios in their own words, rather than only selecting multiple-choice answers.
The system gives feedback that highlights what was included and what could be improved.
Curated nursing chapters support revision before and after practice.
Educators can review student attempts and add professional judgement where needed.
EduNurse is being developed to explore how digital tutoring systems can support nursing students in a safe, explainable, and educationally meaningful way. The goal is not to replace educators, but to provide extra practice opportunities and help students reflect on their answers.
This prototype is still being tested and improved. Future work will focus on strengthening feedback, personalising learning recommendations, and evaluating the system with students and nursing educators.
